Frequently Asked Questions about Soivohle Perfumes

Q. What does Soivohle mean.
A. Soivohle is an acronym it stand for Sending Out Inspired Vibrations Of Healthy Loving Energy. It was inspired by the universal concept of cause and effect. In our little universe, we believe in sending things on their way with a bit of joy and good cheer. What goes around comes around....

Q. How do you pronounce Soivohle.
A. As an acronym there is no right or wrong pronunciation, we say see-vo.

Q. Why do you have both natural and synthetic perfumes.
A. Soivohle began as a natural collection, but evolved to include some synthetic materials in the formulations. We still offer a mostly natural line in our Absolutes and all of the demi absolutes have a high percentage of naturals. The reasoning is purely artistic.

Q. Are Soivohle perfumes available in stores.
A. Soivohle are available in a few locations, but primarily available through our websites and Cincinnati Boutique. We welcome inquiries, but are very selective, as all of our perfumes are hand made in small batches. Working this way, opposed to factory production we are limited to how much we are able to produce. This puts us in a smaller market, but one that we are happy to be a part of.

Q. What are tinctures. Mentioned as ingredients in your perfumes.
A. A tincture is a maceration of raw (usually herbal) materials in alcohol. The alcohol will pull the essence from the materials. It is then filtered and used in perfume formulation the same way an essential oil would be used. Or in the case of vanilla bean tincture, is used as the carrier in place of plain alcohol.

Q. I don't see my favorite scent, has it been discontinued.
A. Not likely. We rotate our online selections. Send us an email and we will check the availability. We keep a larger selection in our boutique. Sometimes it is a matter of creating a special order invoice, other times we are able to make a special batch for you. Check policies page for special orders.

Q. What do the words natural, modern natural and mixed media mean.
A. Natural  and modern natural signifies that the scent is made without the use of man made synthetic ingredients. Mixed Media implies that the scent contains both natural (plant based) and man made ingredients.

Q. How long does it take to make a custom perfume.
A. It usually takes between six to nine weeks.

Q. Where an animal note is listed, is this a real animal product or synthetic, such as civet and castoreum.
A. We use a synthetic civet and castoreum where noted in the fragrance description. We also use cruelty free animal tinctures such as Rock Hyrax, Beach Harvested Ambergris and Bee Absolutes (honey and beeswax).

Q. Do you provide a list of ingredients for your perfumes.
A. Yes, contact us directly for a list of ingredients.  We do not disclose all information for custom bases, or third party bases such as a Givco base, or a base created by a manufacturer. It is up to the individual manufacturer to disclose what is in their premade bases. We will however let you know if we are using them and who makes them.  Accords/bases such as the Givaudan Key Accords are public knowledge and the formulas can be obtained by doing a Google Search. We are currently in the process of updating all of our product labels to list any and all IFRA restricted materials used in our perfumes.  This does not mean that every ingredient will be listed individually, just the ones that may or may not cause a mild skin rash, etc..

Q. How can I obtain free samples of your perfumes.
A. Small vial samples of all Soivohle perfumes are available for purchase on the website. We do  give one to three extra samples (free) depending on the size of the order placed.
We receive an overwhelming number of requests for free samples. We will on occasion have a sample giveaway when a new perfume is released, but generally speaking it is not our policy.

We are going to be adding to this list as we go along, if you have a question feel free to ask, we may even add it to the list.
